Indiana’s a pretty nice place, wouldn’t you agree? Sure, it doesn’t get the kind of attention that, say, Florida or California might in terms of vacation destinations, but believe it or not, Indiana is a perfectly wonderful place to visit for a few days. Have two or three days to spare? You might want to check out some of the most delightful things to do in Indiana over a long weekend, which we’ve compiled here for your review. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do – these are some of our favorite places for a long weekend in Indiana, and they are perfect for some good old-fashioned rest and relaxation:
Honestly, we don't even know where to begin with this one. Brown County State Park is a truly magical place that's quite literally known for its astonishing beauty. Often referred to as the most beautiful state park in Indiana, it is also the largest - definitely worthy of a multi-day excursion, we think.
There are lots of reasons why Carmel is one of our favorite small towns in Indiana. It's beautiful, modern, ridiculously friendly, and there is so much to do, see, and experience that we don't even know where to start - we just know you're gonna need a few days to take it all in.
Indiana Dunes National Park is nestled right along the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan, and if you're hoping to experience some of the natural wonders of Indiana over a long weekend, you're going to want to consider a visit to this stunning National Park. Lake Michigan is so outrageously vast that it makes Indiana Dunes National Park look (and feel) like it's a seaside paradise instead of anywhere in Indiana.
Oh, man. No list of fun things to do in Indiana would be complete without mentioning our state capital. Admittedly, you might need more time than just a few days to see all of Indy - it's an amazing place with some of the best museums, shopping, history, and fun stuff there is. Indianapolis is home to the largest children's museum in the world, and its arts and culture scene is vibrant and worthy of adventure. Oh, and there's a riverwalk. Did we mention the riverwalk? Because you're gonna want to do that.
Fans of history - especially Indiana's history - will find Vincennes to be a fascinating place to visit. Take your time checking out some of the oldest historical buildings in Indiana and learn about its oldest town while you visit.
It is hard - if not impossible - to decide which waterfalls in Indiana you'll want to visit first, but we think this one is worth a top spot in line. Cataract Falls consists of two waterfalls, one mile apart, that's a treat to behold year-round. Seriously, there is no "best" time of year to visit; the best time of year to visit Cataract Falls is right now!
So, which of these places do you think works best for a nice, long weekend? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
