Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Alright, so, it’s time for a not-so-fun fact: Indiana is very, very landlocked. Literally, from Indianapolis, the Atlantic Ocean is 482 miles away; the Gulf of Mexico is about 633 miles away. You get the idea. But, this doesn’t mean that there are no coastal towns around here! Indiana is home to some beautiful lakeside towns like Beverly Shores, and today I’d like to take a moment to admire another little town that’s nestled right up on the riverside (making it, technically, a coastal town as well… the coasts of the rivers count!): it’s the town of Clarksville, and when it comes to the best small towns in Indiana, well, this one is one of the greats – and it’s “coastal”, too!
Welcome to Clarksville, population 22,333 (as of the 2020 census, anyway),
It might be small, at just 10 square miles in size, but it's still an awesome little place that's worthy of a spot on your travel bucket list. Fun fact: this town was founded in 1783 by a George R. Clark... whose brother was William Clark of the famed Louis and Clark adventures.
It's snuggled up right up along the Ohio River, and it seems like everywhere you go, you're sure to find some picture-perfect, postcard-esque sorts of places.
It really is something to write home about... and heck, maybe it's your next home! I mean, I'm thinking about it...

There are so many awesome things to do jam-packed into this ten square miles that you'll definitely want to take a whole day - at least - to explore it all.
For example, one of the best attractions in this small Indiana town is one of our least-appreciated state parks: Falls of the Ohio State Park. If you're a geology geek like I am, I promise you're going to adore this awesome little slice of history right here in our backyard. This awesome Indiana state park is home to the world's largest exposed Devonian period fossil bed, and it's AWESOME.
Need more ideas about things to do? Check out the delightful Derby Dinner Theatre, which is always an awesome experience, Vendor's Village, which is the ultimate flea and vendor market, the XTremenasium Trampoline Park (wheeee), and so much more.
