Sometimes, the best food you can possibly find is in the strangest, most unexpected places. Few things are as fun and satisfying as ending up in a small town you’ve never been to and eating the best (insert your favorite food here) you’ve ever had at some hole in the wall you didn’t even know existed. Well, fans of Chicago-style eats and delights will be pleased to know that we’ve found just the place for you: it’s a food truck, quite literally just chillin’ in the “middle of nowhere,” that serves up some of the best Chi-dogs, Italian beef, and almost anything else your Midwestern heart could ever want.
Lurking quietly at the intersection in which Indiana 19 and Indiana 26 meet, there's an unassuming-looking food truck.
It's quite literally Chicago-style eats as authentic as you can get 'em outside of Illinois state lines. This little nosh spot is a great idea when you just caught a glimpse of the Windy City skyline from across the lake somewhere and now you HAVE TO get yourself a Chi-dog. Or any other incredible sandwich served here.

Of course, having wheels and all is a pretty good deal: you can also spot this little wonder chillin' at various spots, shops, and events around town.
It's called the Middle of Nowhere because, well, most of the time, that's where it can be found. You'll want to follow the truck on its Facebook page, though, if you'd like to know where it is when it isn't at that one rural intersection.
It's truly a taste of one of the country's most delicious cities. There are definite reasons why Chicago is thought to be one of the "tastiest" big cities there is; the food that comes from there is uniquely its own, and the Middle of Nowhere food truck is easily the best place to get it in Indiana without traveling out of the state.
It's brand-new, relatively speaking, having opened in October 2021.
It's run as a passion project by Staci Haus who, bored with the grind of her day-to-day job, decided to open up a little ditty on the intersection of IN-26 and IN-29. Her grandfather had always mused that the spot would be a great place to open up a business thanks to the steady flow of farmers and travelers, so as soon as she got an opportunity to do so, she snatched up the land.
Well, he was right: it is a great location, and it has already become quite popular.
The top "gotta-try" menu items, in our opinion, include the Chi-dog, fresh-cut fries from Heaven itself, an array of delectable Windy City sandwiches, donuts, and pancakes.
We suspect that you, much like ourselves, will find yourself drawn back again and again, eager to try something new from this family-owned delight.
