When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Clark County, Indiana is a gorgeous little region in south-central directly across the (beautiful ) Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky. It’s an outdoor lover’s dream come true, with numerous natural wonders and attractions to marvel at (as well as plenty of awesome places to stay while you’re here). With a population of just over 121,000 people as of the 2020 census, Clark County has been steadily growing for a long time now – and it’s easy to see why! Come check out this beautiful little piece of paradise hidden in the Hoosier State; when it comes to the most beautiful places in Indiana, Clark County ranks up there, and I am hopelessly in love with it – as well as what could be the best cabin rental in Indiana too! Come see:
Clark County isn't tiny, but it's not overly enormous, either, coming in at just 376 square miles in size.
Deam Lake State Recreation Area, 1217 Deam Lake Rd, Borden, IN 47106, USA
It is, however, jam-packed with awesome small towns, amazing natural wonders, excellent shops, wondrous eateries, and so much history that it'll make your head spin. It's definitely worthy of a weekend or so!
Take, for example, the above-pictured Deam Lake, which you can definitely hike to if you so wish; you'll find many a trail in Clark County that feature it (among other things!) such as the old, lengthy Knobstone Trail.
While we're here, I also need to mention (and strongly recommend) a visit to the downright legendary Schimpff's Confectionery, AKA the candy store mother of all candy stores.
Established originally in 1851, this century-plus-year-old establishment has been dishing out the best candy and chocolates in the United States to billions of happy sweet teeth. It is, simply put, just what they do.

You'll immediately be pulled in from the street as you're walking past: the aroma of chocolate and sugar permeates every square inch of the air over there, and you cannot possibly miss it.
Schimpff's Confectionery, 347 Spring St, Jeffersonville, IN 47130, USA
You'll want to make sure you've eaten before you arrive... or you might just much on the entire shop. You can find Schimpff's Confectionery in downtown Jeffersonville.
Once you've had your fill of lakes, candy shops, and more, you might be a bit tired - so why not check out some of the finest vacation rentals in Indiana?
This amazing, absolutely gorgeous vacation cabin rental in Indiana is the perfect place to call home while you meander around Clark County; it's perfect especially for groups or families, as it's quite large and very roomy.
It's ridiculously cozy year-round, and it really is what probably comes to mind the moment you think about vacation cabins and/or cabin rentals in Indiana.
With four bedrooms and three bathrooms, you really can't find better digs than these. This cabin perfectly illustrates everything that's right with our gorgeous little state - you'll catch what I mean the moment you arrive.
It's both rustic and modern at the same time, and I personally cannot get over the general cozy-cabin vibe it's got going on (with a touch of elegance, of course). Could this be the best cabin rental in Indiana? I think it might be!
Once you've been well-rested, you'll want to continue checking out everything Clark County has to offer, including a couple of downright excellent state parks, recreation areas, natural wonders, and more.
One of the first places that comes to mind is Falls of the Ohio State Park, which is easily one of our most overlooked parks (and one of the most intriguing).
Lovers of geology and geography will absolutely adore this one; I also recommend checking out such awesome natural attractions as Charlestown State Park, the Clark State Forest (excellent for camping and hiking), and the awesome Ohio River Greenway, among LOTS of other delights.
To book your stay at that amazing cabin in Henryville, be sure to visit the official Stone Creek Cabin VRBO listing and book well in advance – this one goes quickly for obvious reasons. For more info about the county in question, be sure to check out the official Clark County, Indiana website.
