Nestled within the Yellowwood State Forest is a short-and-sweet little Indiana scenic drive that’s also popular with hikers. It’s a short road known as the Yellowwood Lake Road Scenic Drive near Unionville, and no matter what time of year it is, it’s always a great time to drive it. In the spring and summer, lush greenery and wildflowers abound. During fall, the colors surrounding the roadway are to die for. In winter, the area transforms into something of a winter wonderland. Every day is a great day to embark upon one of the prettiest scenic drives in Indiana. Sure, this byway in Indiana is just 10 miles long, but we recommend that you make every stop along the way… trust us, you’re in for a real treat!
Welcome to Yellowwood Lake Road, a scenic route in Indiana that's much-beloved by drivers, hikers, and mountain bikers alike.
Located in close proximity to Hoosier State staples like Brown County State Park and the town of Nashville, this little hidden gem is wonderful for a short-and-sweet drive through some of Indiana's most beautiful woodlands.

No worries, though - should you prefer to make it last, you can stop at many awe-inspiring places along the drive that are sure to get your imagination going.
You'll travel from the small town of Helmsburg (where you can check out some excellent artists' galleries and even Brown County Iron, a famous Indiana blacksmith) to Trevlac. In Trevlac, you can indulge in checking out the Trevlac Bluffs Nature Preserve to make it extra fun. Hiking there is a blast.

From Trevlac, you'll follow State Route 45 to Lanam Ridge Road and take a left.
While you're at this crossroads, you should make time to check out beautiful little Lemon Lake, which is accessible by taking a minor side quest along State Route 45 en route to Lanam Ridge Road.
It's a stunningly beautiful little route filled with adventure and good times. As we mentioned above, the fall color in this area is ridiculously amazing.
You'll meander through some of Indiana's most beautiful forestland, taking in the sights and sounds of the great outdoors. It's a great way to get back in touch with nature, if you ask us!
