Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
When it comes to the best hikes in Indiana, the choices seem to be almost endless. Everywhere you go, you’ll find somewhere to hike, and plenty of beauty to go with it. However, sometimes it seems like it’s always the same trails you hear about; some trails in the Hoosier State go criminally underrated (at least we think so). For example, the Adventure Hiking Trail in Indiana is one of the best of the best and, given its long length, you can take it as easy as you please.
The Adventure Hiking Trail in its entirety is a long one, coming in at nearly 22 miles long.
Doing the entire loop is recommended only for experienced hikers, as it's rated "strenuous". However, shorter jaunts on the loop at absolutely possible and, of course, encouraged.
The trail is very interesting, and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of dull moments on it.

One of the most intriguing and photogenic aspects of the Adventure Hiking Trails is the Old Iron Bridge, which is excellent for photos and general exploration.
Some of the challenges this trail brings with it are the ups and downs, so make sure to be ready to climb hills and descend into small valleys. The karst landscape offers both an interesting setting for the hike and a challenge for those who are up for it.
Water along the route is patchy, but it's definitely there.
You'll encounter various ponds, particularly after rainstorms. The region can get muddy, so in the event that it has rained recently, keep in mind that you may get a bit dirty!
You'll also come nearby the beautiful Ohio River - close enough to hear it in some places, according to hikers who have been here.
So, what do you think? Would you try to do the entire 20+ mile hike, or would you only go so far? Have you been on the Adventure Hiking Trail before? Share pictures you took in the comments! Need more information on this particular trail? Visit its AllTrails page for more!
