Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Remember the ’80s? Fun times, right? Do you ever wish you could… you know… just hop into a Delorean and go back? Sometimes we do, but guess what: we’ve found a ridiculously fun little ice cream shop in Indiana that’s the next best thing. Walking through those doors is the closest thing you’ll get to a hip high school hangout in the glory days of the 1980s, but honestly? We are HERE for it. Rusty’s Ice Cream is an amazing little local dessert shop in Indiana where it’s always – always – some point in the 1980s. Check it out, and let the nostalgia wash over you:
Rusty's Ice Cream isn't just another ice cream shop in Indiana.
Okay, we'll stop. Maybe. But we digress: this little Hoosier State ice cream parlor can be found hidden at a strip mall in Fort Wayne. From the moment you walk in, you'll feel like a kid again.

The desserts here are generous and delicous. Even if it weren't for the fun vibe the whole place has going on, it would be worth driving to from across the state anyway.
You'll find all kinds of sweets and treats, from the best hot cocoa you've ever had to amazing ice cream pies, bodacious shakes (that wasn't us, that's what it's called - we swear), famous banana splits, cones, cups, and more.
Everything on the menu has fun, throwback names, like the Mad Max or Ghostbusters sundaes. If you have dietary restrictions, no worries - they have you in mind, too! Enjoy vegan, sugar-free, and other alternative options that are seriously just as amazing as the "regular" desserts.
The walls are geometric and hand-painted, and there are nods to 1980s pop culture in every single little nook and cranny.
What started some years ago as a passion project in the form of an ice cream truck has turned into one of the coolest places to hang out in Indiana. Even if you're not huge on sweets, you're still sure to find a smorgasbord of reasons to love Rusty's anyway.
So, if you ever find yourself in need of a chill pill, no worries: you'll find plenty of chill to go around at Rusty's.
