Don't Miss 17 Days and Nights of Nonstop Fun at the Indiana State Fair!
It’s that time of year again. Every summer Hoosiers get to celebrate how awesome Indiana is by participating in the annual Indiana State Fair, which as every Hoosier knows is a huge deal. This year, the Indiana State Fair celebrates Indiana’s bicentennial, making the celebration even larger than usual.

This year's state fair will have many familiar sites, like the ferris wheel and array of vendors. As always, the state fair offers a ton of family friendly events, like comedy shows, games, rides, livestock shows, and a ton of other educational (but entertaining!) activities. Kids can also have fun riding ponies or racing go-karts.

Of course, one of the main attractions of the Indiana State Fair is what our state is best known for: mouthwatering food. This year, you’ll find the traditional turkey legs, breaded tenderloins, and fried pickles. You’ll also get a taste of the ultimate grilled cheese sandwich, bison steak, apple dumpling, and deep fried, well everything. (Seriously, we mean everything…deep fried Klondike bars, cookie dough, brownies, birthday cake, candy, Kool Aid, s’mores, cheese, etc…)

You can also expect a ton of 4-H contests and classes, as well as livestock and farm-related classes and educational lectures. Pioneer Village will also transport you back in time, while teaching you valuable skills (like how to churn your own ice cream, of course!).

New this year is the Bicentennial Pavilion, with tons of exhibits celebrating Indiana’s rich history over the past two centuries. Here, you’ll find an incredible Lego display, as well as CANstruction (where you can help donate to those in need). The Bicentennial Train will also be present and can be explored. It also makes a great backdrop for pictures!

The arts building will feature a ton of creative fun, such as the Bicentennial Cupcake Bake Off. Paintings, photography, quilting, and other creative baking will all take place here. You’ll also see the famous Indiana painted bison around the fair, each representing a different county in the Hoosier state.

This year the state fair continues with their tradition of free concerts. This past weekend saw performances by Night Ranger, Neal McCoy, and Graciela Beltran. Over the next two weeks, crowds can enjoy listening to the Hunter Smith Band, Aaron Tippin, Granger Smith, The Fray, Maddie & Tae, Lauren Alaina, Anthony Hamilton, Laura Marano, and many more! No matter what you're into, you can be sure the Indiana State Fair will send your summer off on a high note.
