Whether or not you’ve heard of this camping trend, there’s a yurt village in Benton, Illinois that you absolutely must visit. Perfect for getting close to nature anytime of year, this is an experience you don’t want to miss. Check it out:
Camp Manitowa at Rend Lake is a locally-owned campground that has been in business since 2010. It borders Wayne Fitzgerald State Park and includes a great deal of wonderful amenities, activities, and ways to stay.
In addition to eight cabins on-site, there are 10 yurts that fit between 12 and 18 people each. Similar to a hut, these cabins are circular and promote a community environment.
In total, each yurt is 700 square feet and includes windows, a ceiling fan, wood floors, and electricity. The dome is retractable to let in light, which is great for meditation or yoga.
Get close to nature and make new friends when you stay in one of these antique-like structures. There are not many places in the nation that give you an experience like this.
Camp Manitowa is full of fun amenities. You'll find a zipline, a volley ball court, a basketball court, a pool, a game room, a climbing tower, an outdoor performance stage, a dining room, and more.
Retreats and other events take place here throughout the year, such as a music and yoga festival as well as several women's weekends.
If you love camping, an experience like this definitely belongs on your bucket list. You can book a stay at this yurt village anytime of year. Make reservations by contacting the campground by phone or by using its online contact form.
