Take a day trip to the vineyards of Tuscany without getting on a plane or even leaving the state. Instead of another country, you’ll find yourself in a place that bills itself as the “Romance of Italy in the Hills of Southern Illinois.”
No matter which direction you come from, you’ll get to marvel at the scenic Shawnee National Forest that contributes to Blue Sky’s rolling hills. Even out-of-staters can enjoy a fast and fun trip to this gorgeous winery.
While a trip to Shawnee National Park is an adventure within itself, there is a relatively small vineyard with a lot to offer just off Interstate 57 and Highway 13.
Those already residing in the central and southern portions of Illinois will find it most accessable. Even some of our neighbors in the tri-state area (Indiana and Kentucky) are close enough to this winery to visit for a day.
You'll never forget your faux vacation to Italy spent amongst the peaceful field of vines. Be sure to take advantage the good photo opportunities and get shots of all your favorite views.
