If you’ve been searching high and low for a great breakfast spot, you’ll find one of the best in the city of McHenry. Windhill Pancake Parlor is not your average restaurant. It offers delicious and unique options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but it is famous for its flavorful pancakes that will surely turn you into a repeat customer.
Windmill Pancake Parlor occupies a building that was once a hitching post for horses in the 1890s. A visit here may remind you of your grandmother's house with antiques and Victorian decor adorning every corner. In addition to the nostalgic and whimsical ambiance, the breakfast here is some of the best around.
If you decide to order pancakes for breakfast (and why wouldn't you since that's what this place is best known for?), you can order one of the specialty pancakes OR create your own! Starting with the batter, you have the choice of buckwheat, buttermilk, or gluten-free.
Next pick your pancake add-ins with your choice of blueberries, apples, bananas, peaches, pecans, and/or chocolate chips. And finally, choose your add-ons to top it all off! Aside from whipped cream, you can pick cinnamon or vanilla ice cream, strawberries, raspberries, Reese's, and/or Nutella.
Feel free to get creative and make your pancakes as decadent as you want.
