Taking place October 23-27, 2019, the Sycamore Pumpkin Festival in northern Illinois is an annual event that has technically been going on since 1956.
It began as a neighborhood pumpkin display in the front yard of Wally Thurow and has since grown to include much more. Today, the display portion includes more than 1,000 entries.
Each year, this annual event is themed, and this year it is Wild West. From the pumpkins on display, to the floats in the parade, to the ghost stories told at the park, you'll find traces of cowboys, covered wagons, and broncos.
There is also a 90-minute parade that draws a large crowd of people on the final day of this Wild-West themed pumpkin festival. It begins at 1 p.m. and mostly goes down Somonauk, State, and Main streets.
It really all begins Saturday, October 19, 2019 with Ghost Stories in the Park between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., which includes scary tales, crafts, a photo booth, seasonal activities and demonstrations, as well as free pumpkin distributions.
It's never too late to start autumn off with a bang when you live in the good old Land of Lincoln. Let this fabulous multiple-day event get your season off to the right start.
