Extraordinary experiences can be found all over the state, if you know where to look. In Coal Valley, there is a lesser-known zoo that hosts a unique breakfast you won’t want to miss.
What could be more exciting than a brunch buffet and learning about animals? Scroll on to check it out:
Niabi Zoo is a little-known animal park located around the Quad Cities that is home to more than 600 critters in 200 different species. It spans more than 40 acres and is part of the Rock Island County Forest Preserve.
In addition to landscaped grounds and exotic critters, the best thing going on at this zoo is a unique breakfast with the animals. Once each month, guests of all ages can enjoy a delicious catered meal before learning all about different creatures.
On February, 17, 2019 between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., you can enjoy brunch with the birds. It all starts with a breakfast buffet for you and your family, and then guests will be able to get up close and personal with some parrots before heading over to Biodiversity Hall to meet more feathered friends.
The cost of this experience is $30 for adults ($25 with membership), $18 for children age 3-12 ($15 with membership), and free for children ages 2 and younger. You must register at least one week ahead of time to secure your place.
These unique breakfast events take place once each month. Future events include brunch with giraffes, endangered species, frogs, the Easter Bunny, and more. Check the website (link below) for more details about each experience.
If you can't wait for this event to see the birds and other animals at the zoo, stop by any day. Niabi Zoo is open daily between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. with the last admission sold at 4 p.m.
If you’ve ever participated in this unique breakfast, we’d love to hear from you. Please share your experiences and photos with us below in the comments.
