Situated in the northwest corner of Illinois, Fried Green Tomatoes is a fabulously rustic Italian restaurant that will whisk you away to a whole other world. It is best known for its delicious steaks, seafood, and comforting pasta dishes.
This multi-level, Tuscan restaurant is located within a historic building that has been around since the mid-1800s. The exposed brick is original to the structure as are many of the patterns on the walls.
In the past, the building served as somewhat of a hardware store that supplied leather, coach trimmings, saddlery, and much more to locals. Today, it contains a full bar and tables for fine dining to patrons from near and far.
When it comes to the food, you'll find a myriad of classic and unique eats. There are so many interesting menu items that you'll have to visit multiple times in order to try a little bit of everything.
Appetizers like fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, mussels, and shrimp & lobster flatbread will get you started. You'll also find a meat and cheese board, salads, and comfort foods like meatloaf, spaghetti, lasagna, and ravioli.
The most popular menu items include seafood pasta with lobster, crab, shrimp, and scallops; slow-roasted pork shank, steak, salmon, veal, and other meats. Each pair with sides like soup, potatoes, or vegetables.
As there are multiple levels and dining options, it might not be a bad idea to make a reservation before visiting this Tuscan restaurant (which you can do through the link below). The place can even provide private rooms and accommodate large groups.
