Annawan is a tiny town of 878 people in Henry County in the Northwest part of the state off I-80. Founded by Charles Atkinson and James Grant, it is possibly named for a Winnebago Indian Chief. We do know for sure that it is home to some incredible places to eat.

The first settlement, a log cabin, was built in 1846 by Daniel Morton, and by 1850, a railroad was built through the settlement, and the town was started. Highway traffic increased the population in the 1960s.
