I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Are you craving food from the South of the border? The Land of Lincoln is filled with countless incredible restaurants offering mouthwatering eats, including tasty Mexican food. Sometimes there’s just nothing better than tacos, and if tacos are what you’re looking for, tacos are what you’ll get, street style, at Taqueria Z in Edwardsville.
Open since 2016, Taqueria Z has established a loyal customer base that keeps coming back for more. And it's easy to see why with its friendly staff and use of fresh, high-quality ingredients that make their Mexican street tacos, chacos, and quesadillas some of the best you'll ever have.
As an eatery known for its Mexican street food, everything is quick and simple to make yet flavorful and filling. It's open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The authentic street tacos here are some of the best you'll have in the state. Choose your style (taco, chaco, or quesadilla) and add a filling like carne asada, ahi tuna, chorizo, chicken, papas and poblano, mushroom, or al pastor. Choose a side and a drink for a complete, and filling, meal.
An order of chacos will have two corn tortillas with toasted cheese, topped with cilantro, onions, and any taco filling you desire. This is a great alternative to a taco if you want to try something a little different.
What's a trip to a Mexican restaurant without a margarita? Order a classic or whatever they have on special during your visit. Over time, they've created pineapple, cherry, prickly pear, peach, and countless other margarita flavors, so try something different each time you visit!
This place has a large selection of tequilas so you can enjoy some on the rocks or customize your margarita with your favorite. If you aren't a tequila drinker, they do have a selection of cerveza (beer) on tap as well.
You won't be disappointed if you try the Rooster Beak, which is the taqueria's version of guacamole. It's made with fresh avocado combined with pico de gallo for a tasty combination!
