I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
When it comes to outdoor winter sports, Illinois has its fair share of adventurous activities to choose from. With hiking, skiing, snowboarding, sledding, snowmobiling, and tubing, there’s plenty of fun to be had by all. And for you snow tubing enthusiasts out there, the best runs in the state may very well be at Snowstar Winter Park.
Located in Andalusia, Snowstar Winter Park first opened in 1981 with one chairlift and four ski runs. Over the years, 11 additional ski runs were added, as well as three more chair lifts. A large terrain park and tubing hill were also added as additional options for outdoor fun.
This outdoor park isn't just open during the winter months. With a lodge and two restaurants, a 1,300-foot zipline, and canopy tours, adventures can be experienced throughout the year!
Snow tubing is perhaps the most enjoyable outdoor activity you can do in the winter. It's just like sledding, but better!
If you've never gone tubing before, here's what you do: Take an inner tube, stand at the top of a hill or snow run, jump on, and speed downhill for the time of your life! It's so much fun, you'll want to do it over and over again.
With 11 runs, Snowstar is the largest snow tube park in Illinois, and it's perfect for the sport. To get back up the hill, there's a magic carpet to transport you. No hauling your tube uphill by foot!
Tubing sessions are $20 per person. Runs are open Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Fridays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Time slots are available in two-hour increments and must be reserved in advance by phone.
Are you ready to take a thrilling snow tube ride down one of 11 lanes at Snowstar Winter Park this season? For more information on how to book your snow tubing reservation, visit the website here!
