Grand View Drive in central Illinois is a scenic adventure that meanders about 2.5 miles along the Illinois River, mostly through the town of Peoria.
It is marked by historic sites, incredible views of the river, and lovely looks at the surrounding foliage that is marvelous just about anytime of year.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this scenic drive was constructed in 1903 and named the "world's most beautiful drive" by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1910 upon his visit.
While driving this scenic road, you'll come across many old and historic homes that are situated along this drive. Many have been around as long as the road itself.
Those who live in the area enjoy the 1.5-miles of sidewalks for walking this scenic path. This is one of the best ways to truly take in the natural wonders in the area.
