When you’re deciding to move, you take a lot of things into account. The cost. Quality of school system. Location. But one of the biggest factors in whether we move somewhere is that place’s safety. This is especially important if you have kids or other vulnerable people living in the house. Because of this, we’re counting down ten of the safest and most peaceful places you can move to in Illinois.
1. Lake Forest
Lake Forest continues to earn a spot on both the safest Illinois towns as well as towns with highest earners. The town is beautifully manicured and home to Lake Forest College. You are extremely unlikely to be a victim of crime, and certainly not violent crime.
2. Western Springs
Western Springs is an affluent Chicago suburb that is historic and has all the tree-lined charm you could want. If you take the Metra, you might know it by the beautiful brick and limestone water tower. You can rest assured the police will take good care of you here.
3. Waterloo
Waterloo is a great town to live in if you aren't a fan of crime because there just isn't any. If you live in Waterloo, chances are you're German or are a fan of Germany...Waterloo has done an impressive job of connecting with Germany and truly embracing sister cities.
4. Winfield
Winfield is awesome, and if you like to drink, check out one of the oldest taverns in all of Illinois. But this establishment does not lead to angry drunks. People behave themselves. Police also work with the community on preventative efforts.
5. Hawthorn Woods
The Hawthorn Woods police department is small but supremely connected to serve you. With that peace of mind, you need to relax. If you love golf, you have got to check out the course designed by none other than Arnold Palmer.
6. Maryville
Maryville is a town on the rise, very much so over the past decade. Still, crime is very low. Your chance of being a victim is less than five in 1000. In addition, you'll be a member of a very tight-knit community.
7. Channahon
Channahon is an extremely peaceful place to live because of how scenic it is. The absolutely beautiful I&M canal runs through the town. I guess the beauty that abounds make people behave, because crime is almost non-existent.
