Meat lovers unite! There’s a little-known roadside BBQ shack in Arthur, Illinois that the locals would rather keep a secret. Unfortunately for them, the food is just too good to keep under wraps, and it’s about time more people knew that this place exists.
If you love ribs and pulled pork, you’ve got to stop by this tiny restaurant. Check it out:
In business since 2010, this family-owned, small town BBQ restaurant in central Illinois is the last thing you'd expect to find in Amish country. Regardless, this place is known for its smoked pork products and is a must-visit for any meat lover.
Arthur is the oldest and largest Amish community in the Land of Lincoln. It was founded in the 1860s and is currently home to about 2,200 residents.
Like any good BBQ place, this eatery contains a casual, no-frills dining environment that is welcoming to all. From the moment you step inside, you'll feel like you're in your auntie's or grandma's kitchen.
This marvelous roadside BBQ shack is known for its smoked meats and southern comfort food. Start off with appetizers like fried pickles or okra, corn nuggets, wings, or nachos. You can also get soup or salad and flatbreads.
When it comes to the meats, you'll find pulled pork, baby back ribs, shaved tenderloin, pork chops, smoked turkey, and smoked sausage. Of course, the mind-blowing sauce is what will have you craving this stuff for weeks afterward.
Other menu items include burgers, salmon, walleye, chicken strips, pulled pork mac and cheese, a BBQ po' boy, and sides like tater tots, baked potatoes, sweet potato fries, and hobo potatoes.
You can't leave Pauly's without giving one of its desserts a try. Most popular are the homemade pies and cobblers, funnel cake fries, and ice cream delights like root beer floats and milkshakes.
Pauly’s BBQ is open Monday through Thursday between 10:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. as well as Friday and Saturday between 10:30 a.m. and 9 p.m., and you can get more details about it on its website or Facebook page.
