The remote town of Rushville, Illinois is home to about 3,190 citizens, and it is tucked away in the west-central part of the state. At the crossroads of a couple of US highways, it certainly sees some traffic but is otherwise hidden by miles of fields and forests.

One possible way to begin your day in Rushville is at Roger's Bakery. It is open Tuesday through Friday between 4:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. as well as Saturday between 4:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. The place has been in business since 1982 and is known for its wide selection of sweets as well as its lunch specials.
In addition to sweet tooth-pleasers like cake, doughnuts, pies, and cookies, locals go wild for the homemade pork tenderloins that are only available on Wednesdays as well as the bread and egg noodles.

If you are visiting on a weekend and enjoy history, you may find the local museum amusing. Schuyler Jail Museum was founded in 1972 and is open between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and features tons of interesting items as well as a genealogical library.

Nature lovers have several options to choose from in this remote town. Scripps Park is slightly more popular and features a golf course, a three-mile walking path, a playground, tennis and basketball courts, baseball diamonds, and a community building.
Scripps Park is also the site of Rushville's community pool. Even this remote town has a place for locals to cool off in the warm months. It has concessions as well as an exciting waterslide, diving boards, and separate areas for lane swimming and play swimming.
After all that journeying, you're bound to be famished. Luckily, there are plenty of great places to eat in Rushville. One of the best is Los Charros, which is right by Scripps Park on the southwest side of town.
