I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Are you ready to add some excitement to your summer? If you answered yes, then you need to make plans to head to the largest, wackiest water park in the Prairie State. Although there are plenty of choices here when it comes to water parks, the Australian-themed Raging Waves Water Park in Illinois offers a little something for everyone.
Spanning an area of 58 acres, Raging Waves Water Park boasts 32 waterslides, a quarter-mile lazy river, a massive wave pool, three giant areas just for young kids, and plenty of water features to make your visit a blast. It's located just 45 minutes outside of Chicago in Yorkville.
Grab your family, grab your friends, and head out for the time of your life at this super fun water park with the most thrilling waterslides you'll find in the state!
Each feature at Raging Waves is given a Thrill Factor of one through five. Pictured here is the Aussie Mat Dash with a 5 out of 5 Thrill Factor. This is one of only three RallyRACERs in the world and up to six people can take the challenge to see who's the fastest going through a flume and splashing into the pool at the end.
Another waterslide with a 5 out of 5 Thrill Factor is The Boomerang, where you start in a chute and then dropped into a funnel. This is one wacky ride you don't want to miss!
For those who want something a bit less thrilling, the lazy river, Kookaburra Kreek, is always an option. With a Thrill Factor of just 3 out of 5, you can relax your way along a quarter-mile stretch of cool water.
Younger kids have three separate water park play areas to choose from. Kangaroo Falls is a four-story water fort filled with slides, bridges, and water features including a 750-gallon bucket that tips over and dumps water after you hear a bell ring.
Koala Kove is a bit more tame and a great introduction to children who are new to the water park experience. And Quokka-Nut Island has a large pool with plenty of interactive water features to keep the young ones entertained for hours.
There's also Brock's Giant Sandbox where kids can have fun building castles and burying their parents in the sand!
Purchase a day pass, or if you plan on going often, a season pass may be your best option. Private cabanas can also be rented for an additional fee and include mobile restaurant ordering.
