Situated in the Windy City, Zap Props is a little-known yet zany and historic rental store that has been supplying important objects and pieces parts to filmmakers, theaters, and designers for decades.
In business for more than 30 years, this 36,000 square-foot warehouse is filled to the brim with aisles upon aisles of vintage signs, old chairs, toys, knick-knacks, car parts, and so much more.
A tour through this prop store might make you think you're at a flea market, but this unique place is more like a prop museum. It features thousands of items that have been used in movies and television over the years.
The shop selectively buys vintage items it believes it can rent out or sell to designers. Many come to Zap Props to help them create their unique space.
