Is there anything more adorable than a penguin? We’re in love with these quirky, cute little creatures. Brookfield Zoo is home to many Humboldt penguins, and you can sign up to meet them in person.
Brookfield Zoo is home to more than 450 species of animals, including the Humboldt penguin. Visit this beautiful, 216-acre zoo to see all kinds of animals and learn more about them.
Humboldt penguins hail from South America. They stand about 26 inches tall and weight just 8 or 9 pounds. You can watch the zookeepers feed them, and see their quirky, cute personalities as they interact with each other.
For a close up meet-and-greet with penguins, you'll want to register for the Penguin Encounter. It's available Monday through Friday at 2 p.m., and weekends at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Just 20 guests are allowed to register for each encounter, so make your reservation soon.
Your encounter lasts about 45 minutes, and it starts with a short presentation by a zookeeper, who will tell you all about these fascinating creatures and what to expect.
Then, a second zookeeper will bring the penguins in to meet you! The penguins waddle around the room, greeting everyone along the way. You'll be able to take plenty of photos during the encounter. When time is up, bid the penguins adieu, and head back out to the exhibit to see them in their habitat again.
Visit Brookfield Zoo’s website for more information and to register online for a penguin encounter. Does this look like an adventure you’d enjoy? Tag the people you want to bring with you!
