I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
When you live in a state with so much natural beauty, hiking is often the best way to explore. Illinois has some of the most gorgeous state parks, offering an array of trails from easy to strenuous, and some of these trails will even take you to a magnificent waterfall. If you are looking for a relatively easy hike to go out and enjoy nature, we suggest the Ottawa Canyon trail at Starved Rock State Park! This out-and-back hike is just a one-mile round trip and (spoiler alert!) ends with a lovely waterfall.
Have you hiked to the waterfall at Ottawa Canyon in Starved Rock State Park before? Please let us know in the comments!
Parking for this trail may be found at the Ottawa Canyon parking lot along State Route 71. If you want more information about the Ottawa Canyon Trail, visit the webpage on Alltrails here.
