By now, we’ve all heard the weather reports. Snow is upon us, and we’re going to be hit fairly hard. There’s always an adjustment period, whether it’s digging out the winter gear or allowing more time to arrive at your destination. But it’s not all bad. Here are some reasons why you shouldn’t dread winter in Illinois.
1. Illinois looks particularly gorgeous under a fresh covering of snow.
2. Building snowmen is impossible without snow. This is a great activity whether you have little kids or if you're a big kid.
3. People go nuts celebrating their holiday of choice. We love people's proud displays.
4. Outdoor ice skating at places like Millennium Park are just so great this time of year.
5. If there's snow, that means that there is skiing. Head to one of your favorite Illinois ski hills.
6. Lake Michigan looks absolutely awesome when it starts to get frozen over.
7. Is there no better time to go pick out a Christmas tree than when there is a light covering of snow?
8. Sledding and spending time with little ones makes for some of the best winter memories.
9. Winter means guilt-free indulgences in things like hot cocoa and sweet treats.
10. We're from Illinois. We know that we trudge through it every year and this year is no exception.
11. We all get busy, but winter is that one time of year where families put spending time together over all else.
