If you’ve always dreamed of standing out in the cold and counting down to the new year with your whole community, then this is the event of a lifetime. Check it out:
Americans across the nation tune in to their favorite broadcast television network each New Year's Eve for one amazing event. A large sphere covered in glowing lights slowly descends as you count down, "10... 9... 8... 7..."
But this year, you can experience this event in real life, and you don't even have to go to New York City. Peoria's Winterfest runs November 24, 2017 through January 14, 2018, and this year, it will include a ball drop like you've never seen.
The event will feature fireworks, live music, drinks, and much more. Though the main event obviously begins just before midnight, there will also be a children's New Year's Eve ball drop at 7 p.m.
Other Winterfest activities include breakfast with Santa, ice skating, a hockey tournament, caroling, and more. This is the third year for the event, and it has already become a popular tradition for locals.
There is also a 100-feet-long, six-foot-wide slide made entirely of ice on which kids use a disc sled to slide down.
Located at Fulton Street and Jefferson Avenue in Peoria, this event will have all the fun you already love about Winterfest, plus much more. Brave the cold and join your community for an epic New Year's celebration.
