I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Traveling along Illinois’ Historic Route 66, you’ll find plenty of roadside attractions and places to grab a bite to eat. One popular place along the Mother Road is Nelly’s Restaurant on Route 66, a place where both locals and travelers alike hang out for the good food and fun atmosphere.
Nelly's Restaurant on Route 66 might not be an establishment that's been around since the beginnings of the historic byway, but it certainly embodies its heart and soul.
Step inside its doors and you can tell that Nelly's is a fun place to be. Visitors from all over the world come to travel the most famous road in the United States and stop at Nelly's. The flags hanging from the ceiling show which countries customers have visited from.
While everyone seems to enjoy the warm, fun, and friendly atmosphere of Nelly's, the food here is also excellent. The menu features hot dogs, Italian beef, hand-cut fries, sandwiches, wraps, and so much more so weary travelers can fill their bellies with a delicious meal before hitting the road again.
Everyone who walks through the doors is allowed to leave their mark here - literally! Feel free to sign your name on the wall or ceiling or even leave a message for someone on the chalkboard. This is just another fun and unique element offered at Nelly's Restaurant on Route 66.
