I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Unique getaways are all the rage and with Airbnb, we can certainly find an extraordinary place with plenty of singular attributes and character to spend the night. One such place you may be interested in is the Mule Barn Airbnb in Illinois. Transformed from a rustic barn into more modern digs, you can enjoy a wonderfully comfortable stay at this one-of-a-kind place.
Located by the I&M Canal in North Utica, the Mule Barn is an Airbnb that was once an actual barn. The stall, hayloft, and bays have been transformed into comfortable living quarters with a cozy, rustic feel.
On the ground level is where you'll find the kitchenette, living room, and library. Take the stairs to the second level for the bathroom and sleeping quarters.
The kitchenette area has a fridge, microwave, induction burner, crockpot, and coffee maker. You're a bit limited if you want to cook a full meal here. However, the Mule Barn is located a mere two blocks from downtown North Utica where you'll find plenty of excellent restaurants.
Grab a book from the library and settle down in a comfy chair in front of the fireplace as you read. What a great way to relax and unwind during your stay!
Upstairs, you'll find two bedrooms. The main bedroom occupies what was once the barn's hayloft. Remnants of the hayloft can still be seen, specifically the exposed wall.
