I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
A working farm with log cabins sits just outside of Galena on 45 acres of rolling hills. On this farm are sweet, friendly alpacas who love to greet guests who stay on the property. This rustic retreat is known as the Galena Log Cabin Getaway, which is a part of the Adventure Creek Alpaca and Goldendoodle Farm. If you’re looking for a rural getaway with peace and quiet, this may be a perfect option. Let’s have a look.
The farm's authentic log cabins are surrounded by nature. There are hiking trails you can use to explore the surrounding creek area, the Mississippi River, and Casper Bluffs. There are also plenty of opportunities to see wildlife.
Upon arrival, don't be surprised if you are greeted by the friendly farm alpacas who will vie for your attention. These gentle, curious creatures love people!
Inside each of the rustic 800-square-foot cabins is a queen-sized bed on the main level, a gas log fireplace, and a small fridge and microwave. There's also a large, full bathroom.
An incredible aspect of this farm is that it's surrounded by 500-foot ridges that block out the light from the surrounding areas. Because it's devoid of light pollution at night, the Milky Way can be seen clearly. This dark-sky site is perfect for stargazing enthusiasts.
The alpacas would love you to hang out with them. Staying on an alpaca farm will make your stay just a bit more unique and memorable than if you stayed somewhere else.
Just rest, relax, and take in all the serenity that nature, and the alpacas, have to offer.
