There’s a homestyle river town diner in Oquawka, Illinois that everyone loves, and it shows. This old-fashioned cafe hasn’t been around for decades, but it will probably last for ages. Scroll on for more details.
Oarhouse and Grill in west Illinois is a small town restaurant that very few Illinoisans know exists. This local favorite is a little hole in the wall that deserves more attention.
The interior is cozy with limited seating, though for this town of less than 1,500, it's just right. The exposed brick and cafe-style tables make this a charming vintage diner that old and young love.
When it comes to the menu, you'll find a slew of classic American comfort foods like soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, chicken, seafood, tacos, tenderloins, and much more.
Many regulars can't resist a visit to this spot without a taste of the pie. Along with the tenderloins, these homemade concoctions are the signature attraction.
Oarhouse and Grill is open Tuesday through Thursday between 5:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., Friday between 5:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and again between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., well as Saturday between 6 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., and you can get more details on its Facebook page.
