I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Transport yourself to a different era with a weekend getaway at a luxurious historic inn. The Victorian on Main in Fairfield is a tastefully decorated bed and breakfast that has maintained some of its original late-1800s splendor. Its alluring charm, impeccable service, exquisite food, and comfortable rooms make this inn a favorite among guests.
In 1895, construction on an impressive Queen Anne Victorian home in Fairfield was completed and, soon after, Judge Jacob R. Creighton and his family moved in. The family remained here in residence until the Judge's death in 1920.
The current owners, the Taylors, purchased the property in 2005 and have been restoring the home to its original glory and have transformed it into a boutique hotel. The Victorian on Main, as it is known, is an elegant inn that maintains its historic charm.
Original Victorian aspects such as a turret, parlor, custom woodwork, a unique stained-glass window, and several fireplaces make this inn an ideal place for those seeking a stay somewhere out of the ordinary.
Furniture throughout the home is a mix of period antiques and modern pieces.

The Victorian on Main has six guest rooms available and each one is different from the next. Here we have The Squirrel's Nest, a three-room suite with a bedroom, bathroom, and sitting room.
Pine paneling in the bedroom creates a cozy space for a peaceful night's sleep. But you may be wondering, why is this room named The Squirrel's Nest? Well, you can ask the owners all about the reason why over a cup of coffee at breakfast.

Lily's Hideaway, aka the "Blue Room," is named after the owners' daughter and is detailed with exposed beams and an original chimney, giving the room its own architectural interest.
At the top of the house's tower is The Tower Room, a unique space with three walls of windows overlooking the front garden. A window seat makes a nice addition to this room.
The Garden Suite is another three-room suite but this option has its bedroom in the tower, a fireplace, balcony, and a sitting room. Your view from here is Main Street and the garden.
The Creighton Room is named after the original owners, has a queen-sized bed, and is one of the bedrooms of the Creighton-Felix Suite. The suite features two bedrooms and a jack-and-jill bathroom. Book the entire suite, or, if you don't need all that space, just book one of the rooms.
The other room is referred to as the Felix Room, named after the home's architect, and features two twin beds.
A delicious breakfast of fresh-baked breads and muffins, frittata, shrimp and grits, fruit cereal is served! Dine in your room or at one of the sitting areas around the inn.
