I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
If you are a history buff who seeks out accommodations in historic places, this Airbnb may be just what you’re looking for. Originally constructed in 1857, this former train depot has been comfortably modernized while still maintaining its rustic historic charm and certain elements from the past like graffiti from 1917. You will also enjoy the surrounding wooded acreage, lake, and prairie views.
Let’s have a look around The Depot B&B.
With your stay at The Depot, you will have a large country kitchen equipped with everything you need all to yourself.
This kitchen includes a fridge with an ice maker, cooktop stove, double oven, microwave, toaster, and dishwasher along with all the cookware and dishware you need to enjoy a homecooked meal. The owners even provide continental breakfast, fruit, beverages, and snacks which you can enjoy in the breakfast nook by the colorful stained glass window.
A historic element you can find in the kitchen is the old station master's ticket booth which is now incorporated into the space.
There is a chest of drawers to put away any clothes you brought and a full bathroom with a shower and tub.
If you need to work, there is a desk and free WiFi. Next to the desk are stairs to get to the loft where you will find a king-sized bed, a skylight allowing plenty of light into the space, and a sitting area with two chairs and a television that includes 200 channels.
