Partially built in 1812, Historic Rose Hotel operated as a tavern and then as a boarding house in the early days. It was actually constructed over a period of time with new additions appearing every few decades.
The house is "L" shaped and made of brick. Most of it was built following the Civil War. The veranda was added in 1866.
