Did you know that the Heath Toffee Bar is one of the oldest candy bars in the country? Located in Robinson, Illinois, the Heath Museum & Confectionary is a place where you can satisfy your curiosity over the origins of one of the most famous candy companies in the country and satisfy your sweet tooth at its shop and old-fashioned soda fountain.
It all started in Robinson, Illinois in 1913 when L.S. Heath purchased a confectionary shop for his sons, Bayard and Everett. The brothers developed the business into a candy store and ice cream parlor with on-site candy manufacturing.
At some point, the brothers acquired a toffee recipe and started making what they became most famous for in 1928. They called it "Heath English Toffee." With smart advertising and marketing, the Heath Bar took the country by storm and remains a popular candy bar to this day. And the rest, as they say, is history, which you can learn more about at the Heath Museum & Confectionary in Robinson!
There are over 1,000 artifacts, including pots and other candy-making equipment that were once used to make the toffee, throughout the Heath Museum. There's a candy store and old-fashioned soda fountain here as well.
