There are so many unique ways to spend the day exploring the outdoors in Illinois – there are gorgeous beaches and wild trails, scenic parks, and tranquil lakes. But what if you want an adventure that’s as unusual as it is beautiful? Just make a date with some goats and a tour stunning natural area. You can do both with a single outing to Sugar Grove. Here’s what’s waiting for you at Blue Sky Fam and Bliss Woods Forest Preserve.
Blue Sky Farm is the first stop on this one-of-a-kind Illinois outing. This is no ordinary farm – it’s a place with a wonderfully unique goal: connecting goats with people.
If you’re not ready for yoga with a goat, you can book a private cuddle session with a baby goat. They have session options for one or two people, as well as sessions for larger groups. If you think it's a silly idea, take a good look at this photo!
Just a few miles from your new goat friends, you’ll find another place to connect with the natural world. The aptly-named Bliss Woods Forest Preserve is the perfect place for a scenic hike.
The preserve has a unique geologic feature - the Kaneville Esker. It’s a ridge of rock and gravel that was created by water melting under a glacier 13,000 years ago.
Scenic hiking trails take hikers through a tranquil oak forest and past clusters of wildflowers. There’s also a large wetland basin that’s teeming with wildlife - it’s popular with bird watchers.
