Located in northwestern Illinois' Henry County, Bishop Hill is a historic small town with a rich Swedish heritage that bills itself as the "utopia of the prairie."

Each year, it holds a two-weekend European Christmas extravaganza inspired by its Swedish roots called Julmarknad — or Christmas Market. With shopping, kids' activities, museums, music, and cookies, it's a holly jolly good time.

The event is marked by artisan shopping, with some wares being made right before you. Take home handmade goods and crafts for some of the most fun, unique, and one-of-a-kind gifts.
