Just by virtue of being from Illinois, there are certain things you have done at least once. We can all imagine that first time we did these ten things.
1. Eaten at Portillo's
Likely you've waited in a LONG line in the drive-thru (which surprisingly moved really fast), freaked out at the large one in downtown Chicago, and marveled at the chocolate cake.
2. Gone to Six Flags
Even non-fans of amusement parks like me somehow end up at Six Flags at some point. And once you get there, it is a lot of fun. Especially this time of year.
3. Visited Chicago during the holiday season
There's nothing quite like the hustle of bustle of the city around the holiday season. Shopping can be fun, but stressful. But ultimately worth it.
4. Chilled on a Lake Michigan beach
Going to the beach from a city access point is totally different from experiencing this lake in more remote areas.
5. Gone to Starved Rock...
...and been like: "whoa, this is Illinois?!"
6. Sampled some deep dish pizza
No matter your pizza preference, you've definitely tried it!
7. Enjoyed a snow day
Yayyyyyy, snow day!
8. Heckled Packers fans
This isn't reserved for game days, either.
9. Taken a road trip to Southern Illinois
A lot of us consider Peoria southern Illinois...but there definitely is a whole lot more of the state beyond that.
10. Taken a selfie at the Bean
Okay, we know you'll deny it, but it definitely happened.
And hey, if you haven’t done one of these things, you should. For state pride.
