There’s a vintage custard stand in Central Illinois that is quintessential to summer. This Champaign favorite is a nostalgic experience for all. Custard is different from ice cream in that it is made with egg yolks and is churned at a slower rate to make a smoother texture.
Nothing beats the heat like a cup of custard. Check out this iconic little spot.
Jarling's Custard Cup is a darling dairy treat shop that has been in business since 1949 when it first opened in the town of Danville.
The shop was originally opened by a local couple. They sold the historic place in 1969 to another couple who moved the stand to Champaign in 1983. Since 2016, it has been owned by local coaches, athletes, and alums of the University of Illinois.
Jarling's is known for its signature cold fudge that doesn't melt your custard. Ingredients are sourced from Midwest dairy farms, and the frozen dairy delight is made in small batches to ensure quality.
This amazing custard stand even sells frozen pies and cakes made of custard. You can get any type of candy like Kit Kats, Heath Bars, and Butterfingers added in for an outstanding dessert you'll never forget.
Jarling’s Custard Cup is located at 309 W Kirby Ave., Champaign, IL 61820, and you can learn more on its website or Facebook page. If you’ve ever been to this custard stand, we’d love to hear from you.
