Effingham's Hometown Christmas takes place December 1, 2018 between noon and 7 p.m. A myriad of festive activities will keep visitors of all ages entertained throughout the day.
Taking place in the city's historic downtown, this Christmas celebration kick-starts the holiday season for many locals. Traditional activities include carriage rides, live entertainment, train rides, and a visit from Santa.
Several new attractions this year include an ice rink, a 5K run, and a Reindog Parade where participants dress up with their dogs and travel down Jefferson Avenue. The parade begins at 3:45 p.m. and goes through downtown around 4 p.m.
Tractor rides, delicious goodies, carolers, musicians, and much more make this holiday event an unforgettable experience. Nothing will put you in the mood for Christmas like this one-day festival.
There will also be a special lighting of the City of Effingham Community Christmas Tree by Santa and the mayor at 5:30 p.m. Join in with the locals as they countdown to a magical, glowing winter wonderland.
