Most people know that one of the best attractions in the city is a free zoo (that’s right – FREE), and if you haven’t been, you’re missing out. This is one of Chicago’s most prized possessions, and it’s a blast anytime of year.
Animal lovers will go nuts for this zoo, as will children of all ages. Keep reading to learn all about this phenomenal place.
Founded in 1868, The Lincoln Park Zoo is located just off Lake Shore Drive along Lake Michigan. This free zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. every single day of the year.
It aims to offer advanced animal care, conservation, and education to Chicagoans and other visitors to the animal park. Come here to learn how each unique critter lives its life.
There are various activities that take place each day, including feeding, care, and training demonstrations. Different exhibits are featured at various times of day.
The zoo contains several different exhibits, including a penguin cove, monkey forest, swan pond, and more. It is home to over 1,000 animals, such as exotic birds, big cats, reptiles, and other beautiful creatures.
It also hosts events like ZooLights when the free zoo becomes a free holiday light show. Guests marvel at light tunnels and mazes, glowing animal statues, and must-see ice sculpting demonstrations while enjoying festive music, food, and drinks.
