Though our neighbor Wisconsin may be better known for producing cheese, our Illinois dairy farms produce lots of it, too! And for a day filled with cheese galore, look no further than Marcoot Jersey Creamery in Greenville. Take a tour, buy some delicious dairy and meat products, and go home happy.
This is a cheese-lover's paradise; they have over 15 types of cheese!
From cave aged cheeses like gouda and tomme to fresh cheeses like mozzarella and curds, there is something for everyone. You will not go home hungry!
Head south on Dudleyville Road from Greenville, and you'll reach the farm in under 10 minutes.
When you see the Marcoot sign, you'll know you've arrived at cheese heaven! For seven generations, this family-owned farm and creamery has been producing these delicious dairy products.
First things first: take a stroll through the country store.
There, you'll find all the cheese your heart desires. But, you'll also find beef products from cows raised on their farm, like filets and strip steaks.
You absolutely cannot skip out on their hand-dipped ice cream.
Right when you see the buckets of bliss, you'll know that you need to have some. They have plenty of flavors, and it's the perfect sweet treat before going on a tour of the farm.
Take a tour of the farm to learn about their processes.
You'll see them milking cows and making cheese, and if you visit in the Spring or Summer, you might get to see some brand new calves! If you take the official tour, it also includes cheese samples.
