This Whimsical Chalk Art Festival In Illinois Is Unlike Any Other

Kewanee is a decently sized town of about 12,500 residents that hosts the annual Prairie Chicken Chalk Art Festival. This year, the event will be held July 13-14, 2018 and include a little something for everyone.
Competitors in the chalk art challenge can compete in youth or adult competitions for varying age groups and skill levels. Registration is available until all spots are taken, so snag your plot soon.
Youth pay $10 for a 45" by 45" space and chalk while amateur adults pay $35 for a 96" by 96" space and professionals pay $50 for 120 inches and premium chalk. The cost also includes a t-shirt. Teams may also compete for an addition cost.

Competitors have from Friday, July 13, 2018 at 8 a.m. until Saturday, July 14 at 3 p.m. to complete their colorful creations, and guests may watch them draw.
At 4 p.m. on the last day, winners will be announced and given their awards. The top prize for the professional competition is $500, and there are trophies for people's choice.
There's much more going on at this chalk festival than colorful creations. There are also colorful cars. Cruise night will be Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. This will be the 21st year for the event.
The fest also includes student window art, a farmer's market, a color fun run, a magic show, a gigantic sand pile, a petting zoo, and many other kid-friendly activities.
