I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
If you enjoy visiting craft breweries and wineries in Illinois then perhaps you would be interested in touring a craft distillery. Making handcrafted vodka, gin, bourbon, rye whiskey, and other spirits, Blaum Bros. Distillery Co. in Galena offers tastings and tours where you can learn about the art of distilling in their state-of-the-art facility.
Blaum Bros. Distilling Co. was founded in 2013 by brothers Mike and Matt who discovered their shared love of whiskey. Their passion for the spirit eventually led them to quit their jobs and start down another career path of opening up their own distillery to craft fine spirits.
Patrons are invited to book a tour to learn the process of how the spirits are processed at this craft distillery. Group and private tours are both offered daily.
From milling the grains to mashing, fermenting, distilling in the custom still, and bottling, it's a fascinating process to learn especially from those who are passionate about making such fine spirits.
You will get to see the distillation area and barrel room before ending up at the upscale tasting room. Here you can relax as you sip on whiskey, vodka, gin, bourbon, and other high-quality liquor that's made on-site.
Do you like yours straight, on the rocks, or in a cocktail? End your time at the Blaum Bros. Distilling Co. with a high-quality drink (or drinks) of your choice.
