In business since 2017, Dale's Burger Shack in southern Illinois is a locally owned fast-food joint that has lines out the door at its busiest times. It is known for its fresh beef and other meats that come from a butcher nearby.
Situated in a strip mall between businesses that are always changing, this ramshackle joint doesn't look like much from the outside, and the inside is certainly no five-star dining room. It's bright and colorful with a photo of the Chicago skyline (as it represents the food), but you won't find room to do much more than order your meal.
Speaking of which, when it comes to menu items, the best burger shack in the state is known for its handmade burgers, house-cut fries, Vienna Beef hot dogs, Italian beef, as well as its cheesesteaks made with ribeye and tenderloin from Arnold’s Market in Carbondale. It all goes perfectly with one of the restaurant's old-fashioned milkshakes.
