Illinois is beautiful enough from street level. But if you ever get the chance to see it from the sky, you’ll say “Wow!” We’re taking a look at some beautiful aerial shots of Illinois.
1. Nygren Wetland Preserve (Rockton)
This area used to be farmland. Terrible flooding, however, caused it to be designated as the Nygren Wetland Preserve,
2. Chicago grid
Chicago is plenty beautiful on the ground, but at night--from the sky--truly awesome.
3. Rockford
Rockford looks so quaint from this aerial shot.
4. Chicagoland Speedway (Joliet)
The lands surrounding the track look a lot like a patchwork quilt.
5. Willis Tower (Chicago)
For the best aerial view in Illinois without getting on a plane, head up the Willis Tower. This is a great shot of a beautiful day in the city.
6. Wilmington/Coal City
You might not recognize these towns from an aerial view. The river there is the Kankakee.
7. The Mississippi
Here we see the Mississippi widen as it divides the states of Illinois (right) and Iowa.
8. Brighton Yard (Burbank)
No, you're not looking at a toy train set! What an awesome POV shot.
9. Lake Shore Drive
The sun is just about to go down, but the city isn't ready to sleep!
10. Lake Michigan
A boater can find solace, even in the midst of the hustle and bustle.
