Some of my favorite places to visit are bakeries. There is nothing quite like biting into a freshly baked good that instantly puts a smile on my face. While we are blessed with incredible bakeries all over Idaho, tucked away inside a yellow cottage in Idaho Falls is a newer bakery that is quickly making a name for itself — Megpies. Here, you can find a variety of baked goods from brownies to scones, but nothing quite compares to the pie. In fact, it may be some of the best pie in Idaho Falls.
As you drive on First Street in Idaho Falls, you’ll notice the bright yellow cottage on the side of the road. This is more than just a bright and cheery building, it is home to a delicious bakery with incredible pies.
Daily menu items range from cupcakes and muffins to scones and cookies. You may also spot gluten-free and dairy-free goods, making it easy to find something for everyone.
For something savory, try the quiche ... it’s a great way to start off your morning.
If you love something sweet (like myself), there are several items to choose from. The strawberry pie sells out quickly and I particularly loved the apple pie. We recommend you visit multiple times to try a slice of something new. You never know when you may find your new favorite flavor.
You can purchase whole pies, by the slice, or mini pies. When I visited, I ordered several mini pies in multiple flavors with plans to share with my family. I’m fairly certain I ate all but one myself.
Plus, you can pair your treat with a cup of coffee or tea.
When the craving for something sweet or savory occurs in Idaho Falls, make sure to stop into Megpies. Located in a yellow cottage on First Street – it’s hard to miss.
