There is pizza, and then there’s REALLY GREAT pizza. The latter is what you will experience when you visit Flying Pie Pizzaria in Boise. This pizza joint serves incredible, flavorful pizzas that many people will drive all over the Treasure Valley — and even the state — just so they can enjoy a slice.
Flying Pie Pizzaria was first established in 1978. It quickly grew in popularity, and today there are seven locations in Treasure Valley.
Some of your dough options include Flying Pie’s original dough, sourdough, whole wheat, and gluten-free. In addition to a classic red sauce, you can also try pesto, alfredo, olive oil, barbecue, and even a black bean sauce for your custom pizza.
This pizza place also serves more than a dozen signature pizzas and each is delicious in its own way. Try the Denver Pie, which was inspired by the Denver Omelet, or the Chile-n-Lime, which is basically everything you love on a taco but on a pizza.
If you time your visit right, you can even try the habanero pizza, which is only available at certain times throughout the year. This is one spicy pizza - a level one, 12-inch pizza has six fresh habanero peppers, which is the heat equivalent of five pounds of jalapenos!
If you can handle the heat, try a level four, 12-inch pizza which has 24 fresh habanero peppers, which is the heat equivalent of 20 pounds of jalapenos! To top it all off, this pizza is also drizzled with a ghost pepper sauce.
No matter what pizza you order, don’t forget the breadsticks! Flying Pie has fresh-baked breadsticks that are topped with cheese and cooked to perfection. You can even add some meat on top to give it that little something extra.
Flying Pie has been a popular pizza place in the Boise area for more than 40 years, and it has certainly made a name for itself. It’s no wonder people will drive from all over for a slice.
