The Wood River Trail represents 20+ miles of year-round adventure in the Wood River Valley of Idaho. Known among locals simply as "the bike path", it's a solid option for whenever you get the itch to be in nature!
The Wood River Trail allows residents and visitors alike to enjoy a close connection with Idaho's natural landscape. Conveniently connecting the towns of Bellevue, Hailey, Ketchum, and Sun Valley, exploring the trail is a quick and easy way to immerse yourself in nature.
Its convenient location and the paved surface have made it popular for all sorts of activities. You'll see most people strolling, jogging, or cycling in the warmer months and Nordic skiing or snowshoeing when the trail is snow-covered in winter.
The trail exists and continues to serve the community because of the Blaine County Recreation District (the BCRD.) The BCRD began construction on the trail in 1984 and it was officially completed in 1991.
The BCRD used the abandoned Sun Valley line of the Union Pacific Railroad as a "rails-to-trail" conversion. Interpretive signs have been placed along the trail to keep the area's rich history alive for future visitors.
The Wood River Trail is an awesome mode of transportation between these gorgeous mountain towns. But most importantly, it offers up endless opportunities for adventure.
