Idaho sure looked a lot different back in the 19th century. Even the touristy town of McCall was nothing more than an accumulation of little mining camps, full of prospectors looking to strike gold. It's here that you'll find a unique Western-style restaurant that will remind you of Idaho's early days.
Lardo Grill & Saloon is a beloved dining destination in McCall. Not only does this place boast some seriously delicious eats, but it also has an authentic Wild West vibe that is sure to charm. In fact, the restaurant itself was actually built on top of what once was a small gold mining town.
Back in 1886, Lardo was a typical mining town, complete with rough n' tumble characters looking to become rich. Over time, the town disappeared. However, today there is a lovely saloon and restaurant to remind you of the place that it once was!
Lardo Grill & Saloon was originally established back in 1973. For nearly half a century it's been the go-to place in McCall for some good pub-style grub and pints of cold beer. The food may not be gourmet, but it's oh-so-delicious.
On the menu you'll find a variety of classic American dishes including steaks, sandwiches, and even pasta. A local favorite is the "Spaghetti with Cheese", in which a big plate of spaghetti is smothered with an old-fashioned meat sauce and topped with grated mozzarella and cheddar cheese. After all, everything tastes better with cheese!
However, where Lardo's really shines are their appetizers. So many fried bits of deliciousness to choose from—you'll want to try them all! Check out their jalapeno poppers, guacomole skins, chili skins, or loaded Lardo fries.
And you can never go wrong with a big slab of steak. Lardo's represents a little slice of the Wild West that is still alive and kickin'. Travel back to Idaho's early days and indulge in some mouthwatering grub at the same time. You'll find Lardo Grill & Saloon at 600 W Lake St, McCall, ID 83638.
